Michael Byrnes, the President and General Manager of the OKC RedHawks is our speaker for August.
Michael Byrnes has been with Mandalay Baseball Properties since 2002, serving as the President & General Manager of the Oklahoma City RedHawks since September, 2010. Michael oversees all aspects of franchise operations for the Triple-A baseball club including the establishment of community and corporate partnerships, strategy development for ticket sales & marketing, creating vision for fan entertainment and supervising media & communications, facilities operations, budget management and Major League Affiliate relations.
Prior to joining the RedHawks, Michael was the Senior Vice President for the Frisco RoughRiders (AA-Texas Rangers). As one of the original employees with the Frisco franchise, Michael was a key member of the team that lead all of AA Baseball in attendance from 2005 to present and was recognized by Baseball America with the Bob Freitas Award for organizational excellence in 2007.
Byrnes’ role in Frisco included oversight of the game entertainment experience, the team’s community initiatives, the fulfillment of all the marketing elements for the team’s corporate partners and all of the team’s sales, marketing and communications efforts.
Additionally, Byrnes served as a Board Member for the Frisco RoughRiders Foundation.
Previously, Byrnes worked with Southwest Sports Group where he was the Sales Representative for the 2002 Big 12 Baseball Tournament. The tournament enjoyed great success in its first year in Arlington, setting an NCAA record for tournament attendance.
Byrnes grew up in Arlington, TX and attended St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing.
Michael and his wife Jenna reside in Oklahoma City with their Golden Retriever Shea.
