About Liz & David Wood

Liz and David Wood began their journey with Dance Makers in 2005 as beginning instructors. Though they hold degrees in fields outside of dance, they discovered a passion for ballroom dancing and teaching that quickly became a lifelong pursuit. Over the years, they were promoted to lead staff training and coordinate event planning. In 2023, they stepped into studio management, building on these experiences, and assumed co-ownership of the studio.

Liz, originally from Burns Flat, Oklahoma, and David, a graduate of Edmond Memorial High School, are both alumni of the University of Oklahoma. Together, they are committed to creating high-quality dance experiences in a warm, welcoming environment. Their shared love of dance and dedication to teaching continue to inspire and grow the Oklahoma City dance community.

About Dance Makers

Founded in 1988 in Oklahoma City and later moving to Edmond, Dance Makers has grown into the area’s premier ballroom dance studio and the largest of its kind in Oklahoma. From the very beginning, our focus has been on helping adults learn to dance — whether with a partner or on their own — in a welcoming, supportive, and fun environment.

Today, Dance Makers offers private lessons, group classes, wedding dance preparation, competitive training, professional performances, and corporate entertainment. Our team of highly trained and passionate instructors brings not only technical expertise but also patience, encouragement, and a genuine love for teaching. Using an internationally recognized syllabus, we help dancers of all levels build confidence, refine their skills, and experience the joy of movement while becoming part of a friendly and inclusive dance community.
